A loan of $1,175 helped to purchase more video movies and music tapes to sell.

Getrude's story

Getrude is 49 years old and lives in the town of Lugazi in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has six children, with one of them currently in school. For the past four years, Getrude has been working hard to manage her video library, which sells music CDs and movies.

To help expand her business, Getrude has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more video movies and music tapes to sell, and will help Getrude to generate greater profits and provide basic needs for her family. Getrude hopes that in the future, she will be able to live a good life.

Getrude is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Getrude who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
