Saúl Ubaldo
Saúl, 45, is married and has three children. For 25 years, he has grown corn and beans, a trade he learned as a child from his parents. Before he started farming, he raised livestock and was the foreman at a local ranch. Saúl bought and sold livestock, but then he decided to dedicate himself to farming. He buys his agricultural supplies for planting corn and beans in a town about 12 kilometers from his house. He makes the trip by bus.

He has applied to Fundación Campo for a loan to buy seed, manure, and weed killer and to pay for labor and equipment to plant an additional 7000 meters of land. He currently works 7000 meters, but that is not enough to meet his needs. He is certain the investment will provide food for his family, possibly until next year. Part of the corn and bean harvest feeds his family; the other part is sold to other residents. He dreams of improving his family's standard of living and of setting up a business to sell basic grains in his town.
