Lenelyn is married and lives in Kapalaran, Tangub City, with her family. She is 35 years old and the mother of eight children. Her husband is a farmer. Their main source of income is a store that she runs, selling goods in their community. Her husband has been cultivating their own farm for many years. Recently, she took out a loan from Gata Daku MPC, which she had joined the year before, in the amount of 10,000 PHP. A portion will be used to buy fertilizer, and a portion will be used to buy grocery items for resale. She hopes to have an abundant harvest, to earn more income and to be able to save a portion to cover the of her children's education in the future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
