This is Marjana, who is being photographed in front of her animals’ stable, which she wants to rebuild and make more spacious with your help.
Marjana is a 44-year-old married mother of four children; her oldest is 22 and her youngest is 18. People in her village have commented that she is a very positive lady with a lot of positive energy all the time. “She is always smiling and loving and anyone can sense that from her. One of her children was disabled at birth, yet we never saw Marjana looking sad or tired… that’s the kind of mother and spouse she is,” said one of the villagers to the loan officer.
This will be Marjana’s first loan. Up until now, for almost eighteen years, she has been practicing livestock and has been able to make an okay income selling raw milk to a nearby dairy farm and baby calves to locals.
About VisionFund Albania
VisionFund Albania is a micro-finance subsidiary of child hunger nonprofit World Vision International. Striving to improve child welfare, the organization offers a variety of loan products designed for rural, traditionally underserved clients and their families. These products include agriculture, business and household improvement loans, as well as "integration loans" targeted to help the poorest, most vulnerable Albanian households acquire value chain resources.
While VFA is focused on the empowerment of the poor overall, it pays special attention to women. About 60% of loans to entrepreneurs on Kiva go to women.
