Ivania Del Socorro
Ivania is a resident of the Primavera neighborhood, an area on the outskirts of Managua. Her husband works as a public transportation conductor, and all of her children have grown to adulthood and independence. Only one still lives under her roof and is currently studying. Ivania works selling staple goods such as rice, beans, sugar, and oil out of her home, where her principal customers are her neighbors and local residents. She is requesting this loan in order to purchase building materials to finish a room for which she still needs to build another wall. This is being done to increase the security of her home and above all to create a little more space for her family.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
