Cidian is a 28-year-old young lady who is of farming age and is a housewife. She is the mother of four children. The oldest is 15 and is in her first year of high school away from home, studying business administration. Her second child is 13 and is studying her second year of the basic core curriculum. Her third child is eight and is in her second year of school, and the youngest of her children is five and is in preschool.

She and her husband make a living cultivating coffee, performing tasks such as cleaning, composting, cutting, collecting, and other things. She learned how to do this alongside her parents when she was a child, since they are farmers by family tradition and the land they work together is their own thanks to a family inheritance. It is located close to their home. The clients she has are warehouses that are exclusively dedicated to the buying and selling of coffee in other locations near where she lives.

She has requested financing from the Comixmul cooperative in order to be able to acquire agricultural supplies such as coffee seedlings, as well as to buy compost. The rest will be used in the preparation of a 7000 square meter parcel of land that will be where she sows the coffee seedlings that she will buy, and that way at the end of this process she will have excellent production.

Her greatest desire and biggest dream is to be able to have her four children graduate from universities so that in the future they can fend for themselves, since with what she and her husband earn, they will not have enough to leave them a worthy inheritance. This way, they will be able to take on their economic problems in a favorable way.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
