Irma is a 45-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and two children. She has been working as a tailor since 1990. She has extensive experience in this occupation. She is most talented at repairing stuff, as she ends up with a very good quality result, as if the product is quite new. Her husband works in security, and he is the main income source of the family.
Today, Irma is requesting to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l. to purchase a new sewing machine. She estimates that the loan will help her improve her skills and increase her profits by 15%. In the future, Irma wants to borrow more Kiva loans with the aim of opening her own tailoring factory.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
