Ada Olinda
Ada, 46, is a farmer and house wife and has one young daughter.

She works the land especially the coffee, corn and bean plants during winter time, with her domestic partner.

She did not complete elementary school due to her parents lack of economic resources. Her parents taught her to work the land as they are farmers. Their land is located 10 minutes away walking distance.

She sees the need to maintain and help her coffee crops which is why she has requested a loan from the COMIXMUL cooperative so she can buy farming supplies such as fertilizers, urea, manure, etc.

Her future plans are to expand her crops and buy more land in order to plant a bigger variety of coffee such as caturra and lempira which are competitive in the market place.

Her dream as a mother is to be able to give a full education to her daughter and to make each passing day better.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
