Edith is 43 years old and lives in Sanniquelle, the capital city of Nimba County which is rich in natural resources. The living conditions there are much better than the capital city, and it is the second largest county in Liberia by population.
Edith stopped her education at grade six. As is traditional, she is married. Her husband is a farmer, and they both have six children. She does not know their ages, she said, and none of her children are in school.
By selling her husband farm products, she was able to establish her business. Since 2010, she has been running a shop where she sells rice and soup. She spends nine hours on her business. One of the problems she faces is a small income.
Edith is requesting a loan to purchase more dry meat, fish, pepper, onions, rice, cassava and other ingredients for her business. Her plans are to one day own a house and build a modern restaurant.
