Goran is 34 years old and divorced. Currently he lives in a minority community of Kosovo with his parents. For quite some time, he has been working in an agricultural business growing wheat and corn on his land, and then selling the products in his area in order to make a living. Up until now he has always had to pay others to rent a tractor when he needed to plow and harvest his land. Now he is asking for a loan to purchase his own tractor so that he can cut unnecessary expenses for his business and therefore earn extra income for his family.

Since he is able to support his family through his business, he hopes that this will help them to live with an even a better lifestyle and quality of life. He hopes to keep on making his own living and not having to ask others for money or rely on others for assistance. Goran is very grateful to all of the Kiva lenders!

More information about this loan

This loan will support the economic aspirations of minority people in Kosovo. Roma people and ethnic Serbians have historically faced a tremendous amount of hardship in Kosovo, and are still socioeconomically and politically vulnerable. During the 1998-1999 war, the fighting displaced 250,000 people. Among those displaced were an estimated 80-90% of the region’s Roma population. Today, Roma and ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo still face discrimination and are excluded from many aspects of society, including fair political representation and high rates of unemployment. By supporting this loan you are helping provide opportunity to marginalized populations.
