Razia's Group
In this Group: Razia, Salma
Razia is a 49-year-old hardworking woman. She is living in Punjab, Pakistan, with her husband and four children. All of her children are studying in school.

Her husband is a milk and yogurt seller. For the past many years, he has been selling milk and yogurt in the main market. This is the only source of income for his family.

Razia, as a member of two-person lending group, has requested a loan from Kiva's partner BRAC Pakistan to purchase milk for making yogurt and to resell both at a profitable price. The loan amount is very important for her husband to continue his business.

Her dream is for the higher education of her children. And she is very much thankful to Kiva for such a great help and kindness.

Note: Razia raises her hand in the picture.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
