Mary Joy is a single entrepreneur in Sibaroc, Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. She lives together with her family, and in order to earn a living she operates a service based business providing motorcycle rental and transportation. In 2012, she joined Gata Daku MPC in order to gain access to micro-finance services. She recently borrowed a loan from GDMPC micro-credit to cover the costs of registration and renewal of licenses. She planned to save her income to acquire another motorcycle to be used for business expansion.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
