Madjodé
Married with three children, Madjodé lives in the Avénou neighborhood and is 49 years old.

Before starting the food trade business, she operated a general store. But Madjodé lost some of her stock following the seizure of her products by the supervisory authorities of pharmaceutical products. The rest of her stock also disappeared in the fire of their home in 2005.

Concerned about the future of her children, she has changed jobs and is active in the retail sales of cookies and soap. She resupplies at the Main Market of Lomé and exposes her goods in a small renovated shop.

To expand her business and increase its turnover, she is requesting this loan to buy cartons of cookies and soap.

About Assilassimé

Assilassimé Solidarité (“Hand in Hand” in Ewe, the local language) is a nonprofit microfinance institution in Togo founded in 2012. The organization is distinguished in the Togolese microfinance landscape because it offers services only to vulnerable individuals in the Lomé area, particularly the disabled, single mothers, sex workers, people living with HIV, and widows. Kiva loans made through Assilassimé help some of Togo’s most vulnerable people, including the very poor, to start or grow businesses and establish stable livelihoods.

Because Assilassimé is a young microfinance institution that has yet to establish a track record, loans made through this organization carry a higher level of risk than typical loans on Kiva.
