Leonila is 57 years old and lives in Nacional, Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. She is widowed and has four children.
Leonila has a store where she sells groceries and other consumable products. She is also engaged in selling kakanin (sweet rice cakes) and fruit vending and earns approximately PHP 5,000 each month doing this type of work.
She has requested a loan to purchase additional goods and consumable products for retail.
Leonila has been a member of PMPC for three years. In the future Leonila hopes to expand her business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
