Danaya Group's story

The group Danaya is composed of married women, who average 38 years of age and five children each, all living in traditional extended families in Fana City, in the Badialan district, Région de Koulikoro (2nd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They women know one another through ties of kinship, community, and friendship. They do commerce in condiments, clothing, ice, charcoal, milk, cosmetics, and soap.

The women of the group Danaya are on their thirteenth solidarity loan that will be used to purchase their merchandise as mentioned above.

This client, Kadia, who is the first person from the left in the photo, intends to purchase 12 lengths of Wax 'pagnes' (the colorful cloth of western Africa) from Bamako. Her buying cycle is monthly. She plans on making a monthly profit of 45,000 francs CFA.
