A loan of $1,225 helped purchase farming supplies to maintain her coffee crops.

Maria Suyapa's story

Maria, 46 years old, never stops dreaming big about moving forward with the projects she has taken to work on for as long as she has life, health, and great strength. She was not able to go to school when she was young because her parents had scarce resources and were not able to help her. She is married with a big family of six children, five of whom still depend on her and are going to different grades in primary school. The oldest one works as a city bus driver nearby. Maria has been a farmer her whole life because her parents instilled this work in her when she was very little. She farms coffee, corn, and beans.

She is requesting support from Kiva partner COMIXMUL to purchase supplies that can improve her overall harvest, from root to grain, so she can generate better revenue from her entire crops.

Her plan is to be able to improve her crops in order to generate better net revenue, reinvest it, and pay off her loan, as well as to continue enjoying the benefits from our institution for progressing and moving forward. Her dream is to be able to give her children the best education possible, which they can use to pursue university-level educations, which will help them better face economic challenges.
