Mr. Emilio Amaya Tarrico is 30 years old, single, without kids and has an elementary school level education. His parents' limited resources prevented him from continuing his studies. He began to work from a very young age helping with crops. With his savings, he purchased a motorcycle which he uses in his work as a moto-taxi driver. He works everyday and at the moment, he lives in his family's home in which he pays no rent but helps them pay for utilities.

In the time he has been working, he has used his savings to purchase an urban lot in Ivirgarzama. He has always dreamed of having his own home which is why he is requesting a loan to begin the construction and become independent. With this, he will begin to make his home where he will be able to live, grow and improve his quality of life.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
