Hawa, who is in her late 30s, is married and has one son and four daughters. The operator of a business selling fruits and vegetables for five years now, she works from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m, daily, and is able to earn a fair return each month.

This will be Hawa's second loan from Tujijenge, Tanzania, her previous loan, since repaid, having been used to restock items such as fruits, tomatoes, onions, and other vegetables, all of which normally sell out quickly. She used her profits to cover school fees. She will use this loan to replenish her fruit and vegetable stock. Hawa dreams of providing a better education to her children.

Hawa will share this loan with her loan group "Machimbo," which consists of nine members. Machimbo group members will hold each other accountable for repaying the loan.

The organization aims to reach out to micro entrepreneurs and provide them with financial and social intermediation services because capital is one of the major barriers to development and success for micro-enterprise initiatives in Tanzania.
