Warlita is married with five children, and lives in Sapang Ama, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental. Her husband is a farmer, while she runs business buying nipa leaves and selling woven nipa hut leaves in town.
She has been doing this for many years to earn a living. She made a loan from Gata Daku MPC to buy more nipa palm leaves and to finance labor costs. She has planned to save a portion of her income for the future needs of the family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
