Maricel Gay is a 26-year-old entrepreneur who is single and lives in Pagadian City. She owns and operates a service-based business providing motor transportation and rental to make a living. She has been in this business for years.
In 2012, she joined Gata Daku MPC and gained access to the microfinance services of the cooperative. She borrowed a loan of 25,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) to acquire a motorcycle to be used for the business. She hopes to improve the business and her general living conditions as well.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
