Crestia lives in Macabayao, Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. She is single and for thirty years, she has operated her own piggery, raising pigs to sell to earn a living. In 2010, she joined Gata Daku MPC to gain access to microfinance services and recently, she borrowed a loan to buy feed. She plans to expand her piggery to gain more income for a better future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
