Christian Colony Group
In this Group: Samina, Kiran
Samina is a 37-years-old married woman, living in the area of Lahore, Pakistan.

She requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner’s BRAC Pakistan, to buy a tractor trolley for her husband. Her husband provides services for the loading and unloading of construction material, such as sand and soil, to builders. A few days ago the tractor trolley broke due to a serious collapse with the truck and cannot be repaired.

Samina wants her husband to carry on this business because this is the only source of income for her family. She has some savings but it is insufficient to buy a new trolley so she requested a loan.

Samina is very thankful to Kiva’s field partner’s BRAC Pakistan.

Note: Samina raises her hand in the given picture.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
