Rotha is 30 years old and a married mother of three children. The rest of her family is residing in Sa Ang district of Kandal province. Her rice cropping on one hectare and a half is her sole source of her income. She has been involved in her current business for several years.
Rotha is a first-cycle borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She will spend her loan portion to buy fertilizer, rice seed, and insecticide for her farmland. Moreover, she will spend some portion of her loan to pump water for her crops. She hopes that she can make more income to keep her children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
