Nato is a 51-year-old woman. She lives with her two sons in the small village of Khoni district.

Nina is very hard-working woman. She has three milking cows, whose milk is used in cheese products. Nina milks the milking cows everyday and produces cheese to sell in the local markets. Her sons are unemployed. The family lives in poverty and gets a small monthly pension from the government institutions.

Due to the above-mentioned situation, Nato lacks access to capital markets and financial institutions to obtain credit for starting a business since they require stable income and business experience.

The start-up program, created by Kiva and Credo, enabled Nato to get a loan of USD 4,200 to purchase a truck. After the truck is purchased, her sons will go to the local forest and bring wood from the forest, using the truck. They will sell the wood in the village and earn income. The wood is mainly used by the village population to heat the houses and cook in ovens. The new business initiative, financed with the Kiva start-up loan, will significantly improve the living conditions of the family.
