Sory, a father of three independent children in his early 60s, is a villager from the Sa Ang district of Kandal province. He is a widower who makes a living via rice farming on a one-hectare area. He has been involved in his current business for ages.
This is the fourth cycle loan for Sory with VisionFund (Kiva's partner). He has fully paid back his past loan and has used it wisely to improve his living conditions so they are better than before. Now, he is seeking a new loan in order to support his farmland.
He will use a portion of it to buy medicine for his kid to sell. He hopes this purchase will support his business, as well as his kid's business, on time and that they will make more income.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
