Bushra's Group
In this Group: Bushra, Kaneez
Bushra is a 50-year-old woman. She lives in Lahore, Pakistan. She is a responsible mother of seven children, three sons and four daughters. Her husband is a rickshaw driver by profession. For the past many days his rickshaw has not been working properly as a result of which he is unable to generate any amount of income. Due to this he is facing serious financial problems as he is unable to meet the household expenses.

He wants to repair the rickshaw as soon as possible. However due to the lack of money he finds it difficult to cover the cost of repairing it. Therefore Bushra, as a member of a two-person lending group, has requested a loan from Kiva's partner BRAC Pakistan to help her husband pay for the maintenance of the rickshaw. This will help him to continue his business. Bushra is so thankful to Kiva.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
