Irene lives in Kampala, Uganda, is married with five children, and none of her children go to school. She takes care of other additional family members. She operates a beauty salon at the market on a retail basis. She has been in business for the last five years. She works seven days a week. Irene has no other source of income. She has requested from MCDT – SACCO a loan of 900,000 UGX to buy hair treatments, oils, relaxers, shampoo, and a hand dryer. Her major challenge is seasonality and transportation. She lives in a rented house and her family has access to piped water and electricity. Her goal and aspiration is to buy a fridge and more hand dryers to ease her work. Her major monthly expenses include medication and food.
