Merhi Group
In this Group: Anisa, Nada, Huda
Merhi is a group of three Lebanese women, who joined hands to acquire a loan from Kiva's partner Al Majmoua, to develop their socio-economic situations.

Anisa is the featured borrower of Merhi group; she is a 35-year-old married mother of two children. She has been working as a hair dresser and makeup artist for five years. Her business is based at home, because currently she can't afford to open her own separate beauty salon.

She is the one wearing purple at the far left of the picture. Her loan will be invested in increasing her business merchandise with special cosmetics released for the summer. She hopes that one day she can open a widely-developed beauty salon.

As for the other group members, Nada is the one wearing white, and Huda is the lady in black.

The strong financial position achieved to date has allowed Al Majmoua to steadily lower its pricing over the years.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
