Joanna lives in Sanniquelle, the capital city of Nimba County, which is rich in nature resources. Living conditions are much better than in the capital city of Liberia, and it is the second largest populated county in Liberia.
Joanna is 40 years old. She stopped her education at 8th grade. She is married and has ten children between the ages of 25 and 7 years old. Only five of her children are in school. She managed to established her business with a little money from her husband, who is a teacher. She says she learned her way of selling from friends. She spends nine hours [a day] on her business, from Monday to Saturday. One problem she faces is her small income. She is requesting a loan to purchase more clothes, such as blouses, T-shirts, trousers, etc., for her business. Her plan is to one day build a shop. She is grateful to the lenders who support BRAC Liberia.
