Jessica Marlem
Jessica is 25 years old is a young farmer and housewife. She has two children, one of whom studies at primary school. She lives with her partner and her two children. She has made a living growing coffee with her partner for five years, and her boss showed her how to work the land. Their boss is also their customer and the land they farm is located 25 minutes away, which they get to in their bosses vehicle.

As the land they farm isn't theirs but the income they make from it is, they have requested a loan from COMIXMUL to support and maintain their coffee crops, buying compost, fertilizer, and other products which will help to keep their crops in optimum condition.

Her dreams are to own her own plot of land on which to farm, to ensure the future of her children, to make net earnings for her home, and to grow her own harvest.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
