Von, 45, lives with her husband and three children in the Kampong Cham province’s Ponhea Krek district of Cambodia. She grows rice and watermelon as the main sources of her income. She has been involved with this current business for 28 years and can earn about 30,000KHR per day.
This is her fourth loan with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. She has repaid her past loans which have helped her improve her living conditions and keep her children in school. Now she is requesting a new loan of 2,000,000KHR to buy fertilizer and seeds for her farmland. She hopes that her family’s living conditions will continue to improve.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
