Dany, 48, is married and has six children. Her family lives in a house with a thatch roof located in Pursat province in Kror Kor district. The main source of her family’s income is from selling grocery items. Her husband supplements their income by working as a paid worker.
Dany and her husband have been running her business for 5 years, earning about KHR 16,000 per day and she is able to save about KHR 9000 each day.
Dany received her third loan from Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, two cycles ago and has effectively used it to sustain her family’s business and support her family’s needs. Now she is requesting a loan of 4,000,000 KHR to open a carpenter business. She hopes to earn more income from her business so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
