A loan of $2,000 helped to buy merchandise for her store.

Ligia Maria's story

Ligia María, age 58, lives in Santa Rosa de la Palmera. She is married and has four children. She has been running her variety store for over 16 years. Her business is located in her house. She gained knowledge of how to run this business because she was employed in this line of work for three years. She then decided to negotiate with the ex-owner, and he sold it to her. From then on she became the owner of the business selling variety items.

In Ligia María’s variety store you can find items like toys, stationery products, cosmetics, clothes, and jewelry, among others. With the money from the loan she wishes to improve the variety of products, increase her amount of customers, and, of course, increase her income.

With the income that she gets from the variety store, Liga María has contributed towards meeting the needs of her household. Also, with the help of her husband, a farmer, she has been able to provide an education for her four children. Three of them are now professionals in different fields, and the youngest is still studying in order to become a professional and help his parents with the household expenses.

The work that Ligia María does makes her feel fulfilled and very proud of herself. This is because her business activity generates her own income, and she is also able to support her family with it.

Ligia María’s customers are her neighbors in the community where she lives and from the surrounding areas. They are humble people and very good customers. She really likes tending to her customers well and sharing with them. This fills her with satisfaction, and it keeps her occupied and in good spirits. She is known for the cordial way that she treats her customers.

Ligia María hopes that with this money she will be able to prosper financially, increase the size of her business, and improve her quality of life and that of her family.
