Sat, 24, lives in a rural area of the Tbaung Khmum district of Kampong Cham province and she is married with two children. The family’s main sources of income are from planting cassava and farming rice in the local village. She has been in this business for several years. She can earn about 40,000 KHR per day to meet the family’s needs. Sat has been with VisionFund for two cycles and has completely repaid the loans, which has helped to relieve the family's burden and to improve their livelihood. To support her business, she is requesting a loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, of 2,600,000 KHR. She will use this loan to buy fertilizers for her farmland and will also use a portion of it to spend on labor and land plowing. With this loan, she hopes to make more income so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
