Seipula works very hard to grow cucumbers and tomatoes in his greenhouse during spring and summer seasons. His products are of very good quality and he sells them at different markets near his house. Besides growing vegetables himself, Seipula helps other farmers with various agricultural tasks. He works hard from the early morning until the late evening but his income is still not enough to support his family.
In order to tackle his financial difficulties, Seipula is requesting credit from Credo to start a new business. Seipula will use the loan to purchase a big truck to start a transportation business. During his free time he will transport firewood from the forest and sell it to the locals.
His loan request was approved within the framework of a joint initiative between Kiva and Credo. The start-up loan program provides a business with start-up or re-start-up credit at reasonable conditions. The loans are given to the rural poor who do not have access to credit products since they are regarded as “high-risk borrowers” due to their low income.
Seipula is very grateful to Kiva lenders because the support will provide his family with more financial stability and allow him to save for home renovations.
