Joy lives in the Nkubu area of Eastern Kenya. She has seven children. She has practiced farming for 29 years. Her source of income is milk, tea leaves, bananas and maize.
She wants to venture into poultry farming for egg production. Thus she has requested a loan from Juhudi Kilimo of KES 60,000 to buy poultry. This loan will increase her income base and therefore provide her with a better standard of living. The challenges she faces are pests and disease control. In the future, she aspires to establish a biogas plant.
Joy says that investing in Juhudi Kilimo, clients are able to get more profits.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
