Ali is a 44-year-old married man living with his wife and three children. He is from Lebanon. He has worked as a farmer for the past 13 years. His job consists in cultivating vegetables. In addition, and during his free time, he has worked as a fisherman for the past 20 years and he enjoys this hobby to the max. His wife works as well to supplement the family’s income.
Today, he is asking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l to purchase fertilizers and implement a water station to well irrigate the crops. He states that the loan will certainly help him increase his business productivity by a large percentage which will return higher profits to him. In the future, he plans to open a vegetable shop and start selling his own harvested goods.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
