Jemma
Jemma is 48 years old and lives in the village of Tsovagyugh, in the Gegharkunik region. She is married and has a son who has been engaged in farming since he was a school-aged boy. Jemma’s husband is in the Russian Federation and works abroad. Jemma has never worked, but she manages the farm together with her son. After many years of hard and devoted work they own a big and productive farm with ten cows, heifers, eleven bulls, ten calves, and twenty chickens. They also have a large plot of land on which they mainly cultivate potatoes. Jemma sends her farm milk to a very famous company in Armenian dairy products, and the meat her son sells to local butchers. Together with her husband’s occasional help, Jemma’s farm income barely covers the expanses of her family and farm.

Jemma is requesting a loan in order to buy a hay mowing machine; she also plans to buy three cows. She is sure that through Kiva lenders’ support, soon her husband will no longer have to go so far from his family in order to improve their living conditions.
