A resident from a rural village of the Sa Ang district, Kok is a 42-year-old father of three children. The main sources of his family’s income are fishing, growing corn, and farming rice. Having been in this business for 22 years, he and his wife are able to earn about $8 USD per day to meet the family’s needs.
Now, he is requesting a loan. This is the first loan for Kok with VisionFund. As the leader, he is going to use his loan to buy fishing materials to support his fishing business. He hopes to catch more fish so as to sell them for a good price to improve his standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
