Elvira lives in Palayan, Aloran, Misamis Occidental with her husband and two children. She helps her husband to run a junk shop buying and selling recyclable materials in the town. She has been in this business for six years and it helps them a lot to sustain themselves.
She borrowed 15,000 PHP from GDMPC micro-credit to purchase recyclable materials for sale. In the future, she hopes to see her children successful.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
