Lim is 60 years old and lives with her husband and five children in a rural village of the Kandal Stoeng district, Cambodia. To feed their family, Lim and her husband have been farming rice for 32 years and earn about 63,000 KHR each day to spend on their family’s needs.
Lim is requesting a 2,000,000 KHR loan with the Kiva partner VisionFund to buy rubber trees. This is her first loan. Lim hopes to increase her crop yields and generate more income to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
