Enghak is aged 31 years old and married. She lives with her husband and two children in a rural area located in the Sa Ang district, Cambodia.
Enghak is a rice farmer who grows mango and cassava; she has been in this business for 10 years. The current business earns her family about US $8 per day to feed the family, but she manages to save about US $3 each day.
This is the fifth loan for Enghak with Kiva partner VisionFund. Now she is applying for another loan with VisionFund. Enghak is going to use her loan to buy fertilizers and seeds for her farmland. She hopes to increase her family’s income so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
