Habiba is a married mother with children, all of whom attend school. They live at their own house that has electricity but not piped water. She operates a food stall, selling at the market to her neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of competition from other food-stall operators. With KES 20,000, she wants to buy cooking oil, maize flour, wheat flour and rice for resale. She dreams of expanding her business to earn more income in the future.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
