Mariamu aged 61 years, is a widowed woman with nine children, all of whom are adults. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food for the family.
For the past ten years, she has operated a charcoal selling business. She sells from her home to her neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of a high cost of transportation. She dreams of expanding her business to be a wholesale supplier of firewood in the village.
With the KSHS 20,000 loan, she wants to purchase bundles of charcoal for resale. She decided to join to Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
