Hor is 34 years old and married. She lives with her husband and six children in a rural area of the Sampov Meas district of Pursat province. Some of her children are in school while the others are too young for school. She and her husband are rice farmers and her husband is a construction worker to earn more income for the family. Having been in this business for 10 years, together they can earn about KHR 25,000 per day.
Hor is a third-cycle client with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, and she completely paid back her prior loans, which has helped her improve her family’s living condition. Now she is requesting a loan of KHR 2,000,000 with VisionFund to buy fertilizers for her farmland and to buy construction materials for her husband's business. She hopes to grow her business and raise more crops to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
