Nerme is a 47-year-old married woman and a mother of three children. She lives in Canicapan, Clarin, Misamis Occidental. To make a living, she owns and manages a farm, planting and harvesting rice for sale (and a portion of the product will be used for family consumption). In order to buy fertilizer, she borrowed a loan from GDMPC microcredit in the amount of 4,500 PHP. She hopes to gain an abundant harvest to have more income for the family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
