Benkadi Group
In this Group: Ami, Ami, Sali, Sétou
Half of the members of the group Benkadi are married and half are single. The average age of the group is 27. The group has on average three children and lives in monogamous families in the district of Torakabougou in Bougouni (the region of Sikasso in the Republic of Mali).

They sell various items (wood carbon, grains, locally manufactured soap, tea, milk and sugar) as their main businesses.

The members of the group Benkadi mainly know each other because of friendship and blood relations. Three years ago, in their search for financial capital to expand the amount of their investments, they decided together to work with Soro Yiriwaso. The group is on its fifth loan and the previous loans have been paid back without difficulties.

With this loan, they hope (as a whole) to purchase: 20 sacks of carbon, 200 kilograms of grains, 2 cartons of soap, 1 sack of powdered sugar, nearby the wholesalers in the market of Bougouni. They make their sales at the market in Torakabougou under the sheds, on top of the slacks and from home, where the neighbors in the district obtain fresh supplies day and night.

The members of Benkadi would like to become wholesalers at the level of Torakabougou, where the population is growing.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
