Kong
Residing in the Batie district of Takeo province, Kong is 64 years old and she is married with five children. She earns a living through farming rice in the local area. Having been in this business for 35 years, Kong is able to earn about US$6 per day and she manages to save about US$3 each day after daily expenses.

Kong has never been with Kiva's partner, VisionFund, before. Now, she is applying as the first-time borrower with VisionFund to cover the entire tuition fees for her daughter to study Information Technology at a local university. She hopes this loan will enable her daughter to keep studying until graduation in order to get a good job so as to support them and improve the family's living standard.

It is disbursed to the borrower in annual installments.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
