Ali is a 35-year-old Lebanese married man who lives with his wife and two children who are still attending school. His wife works as a private teacher in order to supplement the family's income. As for him, he has been working as a bus driver since 2005 transporting customers to their destination wherever it is. Today, he is asking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l., to perform the needed maintenance on his bus on the inside and the outside so as to attract more customers and therefore earn good income. In the future, he is planning to purchase a new bus and hire a part-time employee to work on it so as to increase his profits as well as expand his business.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
