Verónica De La Nube

Update on Verónica De La Nube

Verónica is a member of the Zhullin communal bank. She lives in the neighboring area of the town of Azogues, a place with cold weather. This town has a unique feature, since it's located on an inclined ground surface due to its geography. Its inhabitants are very skilled artisans who still maintain the culture and traditions of their people.

Verónica is 29 years old and married. From her marriage she has conceived three children aged 7 and 3 years and a 7-month-old baby. Her eldest child goes to school and her husband works as an employee for a private company. She owns the house where she lives.

For the past few years Verónica has focused on her store. She works from Sunday to Sunday without a regular schedule. She decided to be in this line of work because it allows her to have the time and the space to care for her children, and also to get a source of income for her household.

She used her previous loan to purchase foodstuffs and other merchandise for her store, and she obtained a very good profit from that. She's once again requesting a loan in order to purchase products that are household staples and therefore expand her business. She enjoys her communal bank because of the lectures on education that they get on every meeting. Also, she enjoys it because by being with her friends, she takes a break from her daily work routine and talks about various subjects that interest her.

Concurrent and Successive Loans

Our Field Partners often work with borrowers over a series of loans as the borrowers build credit, take out bigger loans, and expand their businesses. In order to make it easier for our Field Partners to post loans for borrowers who have been listed on Kiva before, we allow them to post successive and concurrent loans for their Kiva borrowers. This means that our Field Partners are able to post a borrower's second, third, etc., loan on Kiva without having to re-enter all of the borrower's information.

This borrower has been listed on Kiva before, so you'll see an updated loan description, as well as excerpts of the original descriptions from earlier loans. Most borrowers take out loans consecutively, meaning that they receive a second loan after having repaid the first. However, sometimes our Field Partners give out concurrent loans, allowing borrowers to take out one primary loan and a secondary "add-on" loan along with it. These "add-on" loans are typically smaller than the borrower's primary loan and serve a different purpose. Because Field Partners can now post loans as successive and concurrent loans, you will be able to track borrower progress over time and see the various ways a borrower is working with our Field Partners through funds from Kiva’s lenders.
